YantrikDB and YantrikDB MCP Server are privacy-first tools. In local mode, your memory data stays on your machine.
YantrikDB stores only what you (or your AI agent) explicitly save via the remember tool. No implicit data collection, no telemetry, no analytics, no tracking.
All data is stored in a local SQLite database file on your filesystem. The default location is ~/.yantrikdb/memory.db, configurable via the YANTRIKDB_DB_PATH environment variable. You have full control over your data.
The package includes the bundled potion-base-2M Rust embedder
(64 dimensions) as the offline and in-memory fallback — it ships inside the package and needs
no extra Python dependencies and no download. A new file-backed store defaults to
potion-base-8M (256 dimensions), fetched once over HTTPS (~28 MB,
SHA-256 pinned, cached in your user cache directory). If that fetch cannot happen — you are
offline, or it fails — the store is created on the bundled potion-base-2M instead
and a warning is logged, so the server still works with no network. That choice is permanent
for that store, because a database's dimension is fixed at creation. In-memory stores always
use the bundled model and never fetch anything.
The ONNX all-MiniLM-L6-v2 model (384 dimensions, ~80 MB from Hugging Face)
is legacy and opt-in only — it requires
pip install yantrikdb-mcp[onnx] and YANTRIKDB_EMBEDDER=onnx. A default
install never downloads it. A multilingual option
(potion-multilingual-128M) is likewise opt-in.
potion-base-8M (~28 MB, SHA-256 pinned), cached thereafter. It is skipped entirely when the model is already cached, when the store is in-memory, or when the machine is offline — in which case the bundled potion-base-2M is used instead. The ~80 MB Hugging Face download applies only to the opt-in [onnx] extra, and can be disabled with HF_HUB_OFFLINE=1.This website counts page views using Umami, an open-source analytics tool we run on our own server. It records the page visited, the referrer, and coarse browser, device and country information. It sets no cookie, assigns no cross-site identifier, and is not an advertising network. Because the instance is self-hosted, those page views go to our infrastructure and are not shared with an analytics vendor. Some pages also display public badges hosted by img.shields.io and link to external services such as GitHub, PyPI, and crates.io. Loading a remote badge or following an external link makes an ordinary web request to that provider. No YantrikDB memory content is included in any of these requests.
The YantrikDB engine and MCP server do not sell or share stored memory data. In remote mode, memory data is sent only to the self-hosted YantrikDB server you configure. The optional model downloads and public website resources described above make ordinary network requests without including stored memory content.
Data persists in the local database until you explicitly delete it using the forget tool, or by deleting the database file. There is no automatic expiration or remote backup.
YantrikDB is a developer tool and is not directed at children under 13.
